Confused about distance calculation in Eway Bill?
We have been receiving a lot of queries about distance calculation for Eway Bill, which can get pretty confusing in many cases. In this email, we answer all your queries at once.
Read every point in the mail, and you won't ever have another question regarding distance calculation again.
We are sharing a detailed clarification on how NIC is calculating the distance.
E-Way Bill System
- 0 is allowed & will be treated as an auto-population request.
- The maximum you can pass is 4000.
- If 2 pin codes are the same, then you can pass the distance between 1 to 100 only.
- You can pass +/- 10% deviation of actual distance & it will be accepted. For example, if the actual distance is 1000 and you are passing 1100, it will be accepted.
- If you pass the limit of higher or lower distance than the allowed deviation of actual distance, NIC will give an error with actual distance; we will have to extract that distance, update the master and hit API again. For example, if the actual distance is 500, as per 10% deviation it would be 550, but if you are passing 555 then NIC will show an error with actual distance as 500, we will have to extract this distance, update the master & hit API again to generate the e-way bill.
- If you pass the deviation from the higher or lower distance than the allowed deviation of actual distance by a big number, the NIC will show an error saying distance is too high or low & will not provide the actual distance. In this case, the transaction will fail.
E-Invoice System (Generated by IRN)
- 0 is allowed & will be treated as an auto-population request.
- The maximum you can pass is 4000.
- If 2 pin codes are the same, then you can pass the distance between 1 to 100 only
- You can pass +/- 10% deviation of actual distance & it will be accepted. For example, if the actual distance is 500 and you are passing 550, it will be accepted.
- If you pass the higher or lower distance limit than the allowed deviation of actual distance, just like e-way bill, the e-invoice will not be generated & we will get to see an error saying distance is too high or low & hence the transaction will fail.
- If you pass the deviation from the higher or lower distance than the allowed deviation of actual distance by a big number, the NIC will show an error saying distance is too high or low & will not provide the actual distance. In this case, the transaction will fail.
