Coal is one of the primary raw materials used in a sponge iron factory, and it is put in a fiery furnace to melt the iron so that the desired final product can be manufactured.

When coal falls into the furnace, some coal gets burnt wholly; some remain half-burnt; what is left can be colloquially called ash.

Generally, the flame cannot be generated from them again.

When such ash is sold, its HSN will be 26190090, and the rate of GST will be 18%. Compensation Cess is not required to be charged.

GST will be charged at the rate of 18% on the sale of ash, but no compensation cess is leviable.
